Traffic law and bicycles: A European comparison

A comprehensive international best practice study about traffic and infrastructure related laws and regulations promoting cycling and walking was was drawn up by komobile on behalf of the Ministry of Transport in Luxembourg. The countries analysed were Austria, Denmark and Spain. A cooperation was established with the offices MOE/Tetraplan (Denmark) and Citec Ingénieurs Conseils SA (Switzerland) and lead by komobile. New record at the “Austria cycles to work” campaign

The “Austria cycles to work” motivation campaign will set a new record in avoiding CO2 in 2017. More than four million kilometres already saved 700 tons in CO2 emissions compared to car journeys. This proves the success of the campaign and high motivation among the participants. “KinderRadSpaß” 2016: Cycle competence and fun for 1,500 children

The “KinderRadSpaß” (literally “ChildrenCycleFun”) workshops organised by Cycle Competence member Radlobby support children’s love for activity and convey safe conduct in traffic, competence in riding a bike and cycling techniques. In Vienna, year-to-date already over 1,500 children have taken part in the “KinderRadSpaß” program. (more…)

Study commuting to work: motivation to cycle

Many initiatives around the world are campaigning for an uptake of utilitarian cycling. One of them is the Austrian initiative Radelt zur Arbeit – English: “Bike to Work”. An evaluation study of the Cycle Competence Member AIT – Austrian Institute of Technologies sheds light on the impact of this campaign and provides insights on how a motivating social setting can be an effective tool for changing transportation habits.
