Province of Lower Austria
In Lower Austria, cycling has been actively promoted for many years. Founded in 2021, “Radland GmbH – Agency for Active Mobility” is responsible for implementing the active mobility strategy. The company is managed by the new cycling officer Susanna Hauptmann and will implement new initiatives.
Lower Austria’s provincial governor summarized the purpose of the new GmbH as follows: “On the one hand, the establishment of a central contact point, which is necessary for the coordinated action of all activities. On the other hand, we also want to further sharpen the sensitivity of the community leaders and our compatriots”.
Who is Radland aimed at?
The campaign is aimed at all Lower Austrians who can and want to ride a bike. A special service is offered primarily for communities, since they are important multipliers. Municipalities can achieve a lot through targeted measures in the area of awareness-raising, the cycling infrastructure (e.g. parking facilities, nextbike) and by setting an example on the part of decision-makers. To do this, they need support and knowledge. Schools are other important partners for Radland: on the one hand they are sources of a lot of traffic, on the other hand schools can set the course for the future.
