Velo-City: World Cycle Conference in Ljubljana
This leading international cycle conference takes place annually, bringing together over 1,200 international experts over four days to give presentations, excursions and to provide a basis for networking within the best and most climate friendly transport sector. This year’s event is closer than it has been for a long time. In 2013, the conference took place in Vienna, and this year it is in Slovenia’s capital city Ljubljana. We are also taking part and contributing many presentations. As Cycle Competence Austria, we are providing our conference stand the ‘Austrian Parklet’ as a networking point at the conference of the European Federation of Cyclists, in cooperation with Klimaaktiv Mobil, an initiative of the Ministry for Climate Protection. There will be on-site headphone translations of the conference content both into English and German, the latter of which will also be provided by the Ministry for Climate Protection. You can find the programme online here. Vello, one of our Cycle Competence members, will be offering one of their folding bikes as the main prize of the conference’s scavenger hunt, a particular highlight! One of the other main features of our stand will be the GLEAM Multi-Use Bike!
Velo-City Conference Ljubljana: 14th to 17th of June 2022
Experts from leading cycling countries such as The Netherlands, Germany and Denmark, many of whom are Cycle Competence members, as well as participants from many other regions will focus on the following topics:
- Rethinking urban space
- Focus on citizens, stakeholders and community

- Urban mobility innovation
The programme themes span a range of issues, from the current cycle-friendly design of roads, public spaces and urban centres to the various political measures needed to achieve this increase in cycling, to motivational marketing campaigns and ecological tourism. From a communal stand point, many of the topics which are up for discussion are also directly relevant to the Austrian goals of making communities more cycle-friendly. The programme also includes highlights such as a bike parade and a welcome dinner!
